From day one, which was just over a year ago, BlackSmithSoft fell in love with Autodesk’s Forge platform and decided to build it into every application we develop. We started first with our Advanced Work Packaging application, using Forge to view those heavy and complex oil & gas models, many of them made with CAD applications competing with Autodesk. The viewer was simply amazing: quick loading, accurate and navigates nicely on Chrome and other browsers. We then started using the other Forge APIs…which we found added a lot of value to our WFP/AWP solution space.

As we expanded our offering into the BIM space to cater to our customers in the residential and commercial construction industry, we expanded our use of Forge eventually covering all of the below APIs.

  • Design Automation API for Revit
  • Viewer API
  • Data Management API
  • Model Derivative API
  • BIM 360 API
  • Reality Capture API
  • Webhooks

At the end of October, we were given the Forge Systems Integration certification, which we are very proud of! And it is not about just wearing the badge, it is about the journey we went through with Forge and how every day our development teams keep finding how versatile and value-adding this platform is.
